PRESS RELEASE – Short-Term Fosterers Urgently Needed

Do you have room in your home – and heart – to foster for Animal Accident Rescue Unit?

Three special cats need to find short-term foster homes immediately: Baxter, Lexi and Bobby.

With so many abandoned animals coming in and volunteers on holiday over the festive season, we are running out of room to care for them.

· Baxter is a 6-year-old boy with cat flu. He would need to be kept away from other cats, unless they were also carriers of cat flu. Read more about him here.

· Lexi is an elderly girl with thyroid problems. Her health problems mean that she has become one of the Charity’s permanent foster cats. Sadly she will not recover but her condition can be maintained with veterinary care. Animal Accident Rescue Unit will cover the costs of her care while she is looked after by one of our fosterers. She can live with other cats but she ideally needs peace and quiet.

· Bobby is a 2-year-old boy who likes his own space so isn’t suitable to live with other cats. Read more about him here.

If you can offer a short-term refuge in your home and care for a cat or kitten until their regular fosterer is back or such time as we can re-home it, we would be delighted to hear from you. All you need is some space in your house, some common-sense and experience in looking after a cat or kitten.

It’s worth noting that you’ll need to be able to provide a safe and secure haven inside your home, as foster cats are not allowed to go outside.

Cat Welfare Volunteer Crystal Moore says: “As we are in the season of goodwill we are hoping that we get offers of temporary care for these three beautiful cats. Fostering can be an exceptionally rewarding experience and there’s nothing like knowing you’ve helped an animal in need.”

We are looking for reliable volunteers living in or around the Nottingham area. If you think this sounds like you, please contact Animal Accident Rescue Unit on: admin@aaru.org.uk. The Charity will be happy to answer any questions you may have and will provide advice. A homecheck will also be required.
