Toby1 Toby2 Toby3 Toby4

This is the adorable Toby. He is one of the 15 puppies we rescued before Christmas from the canal towpath in Sandiacre and was only about seven weeks when he and his siblings were taken in by AARU and placed with one of our experienced dog fosterers.

We had made arrangements for several potential owners to go and view him but due to time-wasters and for different reasons we were not happy to allow him to be adopted; so Toby has stayed with his fosterer over the Christmas break as we didn’t want to try and re-home him during the Holidays. He got totally spoilt though so we weren’t worried about him, it’s much more important he goes to the correct home permanently than just be a Christmas present.

Due to his dark brindle markings we initially thought he was a Staffie cross and as he is getting bigger it’s obvious he has Labrador somewhere in his line as he has that lovely soft face and beautiful velvety ears.

He is now just over four months old and is growing into a handsome young lad. Look how well he’s developed from the day he came to us – you could see all his ribs and hips as he was so thin. He has had all his injections now so can venture out into the big wide world. We understand that he is doing really well with his lead training and close work on lead, today he was doing it off the lead, twice, bless him and his recall is getting better all the time.

He is being fostered with five other dogs and he is well behaved.  He is a lovely little fella we’re told; very clean and loves a fuss.  Like all dogs he enjoys a cuddle and a stroke on his fosterer’s lap. Toby has a good nature and is a real sweetie.  He’s good with dogs, cats and is very happy being around children – so a good little boy all-round to be honest.

We cannot say how small or big he will get as he is a cross breed but we would suggest he be homed with maybe only one other dog so he can get all the love and attention he needs and deserves after such a dreadful start in life. It’s important he continues with his training with his new owners so he becomes an obedient and approachable adult.

If you are interested in offering Toby a safe, responsible and loving home please ring our Dog Welfare on 0115 974 7699 or email admin@aaru.org.uk where greater details can be discussed and a home check be organised.

ONLY POTENTIAL NEW OWNERS PLEASE as we would like to find him a new home quickly so you’ll still be able to enjoy him at his fun-loving and adventurous puppy stage.
